Provide those who are struggling to change the world for the better (or to
find ways to survive in the world the way it is, while finding ways to
become part of that change) with articulated 1) vision of the world
transformed, 2) tactics, & 3) joyful recognition of precisely what the
situation is, especially the obstacles—&, whenever I am able to give & one
of them is capable of receiving what I am able to give, nurture, & assist
development, organization, & execution of tactics.
I write & produce art about the struggle of living with values that differ
from the dominant, commercial, devious, recklessly exploitive, even
violent—& homogeneously conventional—culture. I use stories, poems, songs,
essays, posters.
By demanding of myself as much integrity as I am capable, I produce few
completed works. But those, I insist on getting into the widest possible
circulation—whether I find support for doing so, or not.
In this way, I hope to provoke a surprised re-consideration on the part of
those who are not either totally intimidated or who have not completely invested
their hearts & minds in the success of that which defeats others. And, for
those thus re-considering, I offer advantageous understanding of the
situation of those who break with what is widely expected—both in terms of
difficulties to be expected & the rewards freely available to those who
don't put themselves at odds with manifestation of the great spirit, in
nature & in our fellow beings.
